Melissa Morgan is a Senior Associate with the Dispute Resolution and Litigation team. With over 12 years’ experience in legal roles, Melissa is an effective and strategic negotiator who strives to meet the needs of her clients in every matter.
Melissa advises large national corporates, smaller owner-managed businesses and high net worth individuals, in a variety of areas across commercial litigation, insolvency and property disputes. Her recent experience includes:
Acting for the majority shareholder in a large and complex Supreme Court proceeding which ran for 4 weeks;
Acting for majority of shareholders in a Supreme Court proceeding, defending claims that included breaches of director’s duties and fiduciary duties, and oppressive conduct claims;
Acting for plaintiffs and defendants in respect of disputes involving breaches of contract;
Acted for liquidators of a group of 5 companies, which saw Melissa prosecute matters on behalf of liquidators, as well as defending proceedings against companies in liquidation;
Advising and acting for creditors in wind-up applications in the Federal Court and Supreme Court;
Advising and acting for a leading Australian security company and national sports company concerning debt recovery action; and
Acting for a large global power tool organisation, defending a breach of contract claim and finding that the client had a claim against the plaintiff for a breach of the Australian Consumer Law.
